Reasons why losing weight is not successful
Your weight is still the same although you eat less and work out often. Some of your habits may cause losing weight isn’t successful.
1. You can't stop snacking. This is probably boredom and not hunger.
Solution: Fill up on raw veggies like carrots and cucumber, and hot drinks - they're more filling. Drinking a glass of water with your meals will help fill you lose weight too.
2. You're not drinking water enough
It's a bit of a tricky one this, when you're on a diet drinking lots of water is a good thing as it fills your stomach but also helps flush your body of toxins. However, if you drink too much water you could feel bloated and that would dishearten you and if you're drinking water because you're hungry then you get depressed! Instead, get the balance right
Solution: Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, with every meal and snack and last thing at night too. Fill up on high-fibre foods such as brown bread, potatoes with the skin on and brown rice and pasta.
3. Eating high-sugar, high-fat treats on holidays
As we are all well aware, food is a big part of holidays and celebrations – just think of Thanksgiving, a wedding, a bar mitzvah or Christmas and you’ll probably picture the special foods that go along with them.
Solution: Instead choose treats that are lower in calories and fat. Fresh fruit and low-fat, no-sugar-added yogurt and ice cream are even better treats. Treats are a great part of our lives – just make sure they are the right sort of treats.
4. You watched TV or worked with computer thing too much
People don’t move their body while watching TV or working with computer. The body burns only 20-30 calorie when you sit in front of TV or computer.
Solution: turn TV and computer off and find another active activity to do. Don’t eat snack or anything else when you watch TV.
5. You're eating the leftovers.
No-one likes waste but finishing off everyone else's dinner will give you a waist you don't like!
Solution: Instead of throwing food away make a bit less than usual, keep them in the refrigerator. Start a compost heap for your leftovers or see our leftover recipes for ideas.
6. Skipping breakfast
By the time people rise in the morning, most haven’t eaten for 10 to 12 hours, and their blood sugar levels are low. As a result, skipping breakfast will most certainly cause you to snack throughout the day in an effort to boost your blood sugar, or energy, level. And chances are good that you will reach for high-calorie, high-fat foods such as doughnuts, muffins or cookies to give you that quick sugar fix your body feels it needs.
Solution: Start your day with a substantial breakfast with cereal, milk, muffin, doughnut, fresh fruit, sandwich or etc.
7. You're doing it alone.
Having a friend to motivate you and share those times when you're feeling down can make all the difference.
Solution: Join a club or ask a friend if she'll be your diet buddy.
8. Stress is making you fat.
There are two ways stress can make you fat: you eat more when you're worried about something. And when you're stressed your body makes more of a hormone that actually stores fat. There's nothing like gentle exercise to help beat the blues and burn calories.
Solution: Relaxing when you’re under stress by taking a walk, having a deep breath and imaging about the beautiful beach and etc.
